The innocents are still being slaughtered.

Women and children are dying needlessly.

In the small hours of Thursday 27th October, this short poem felt like a harbinger of an emerging apocalypse. 

Having reported (in relative comfort) from conflict zones in the past, I understand the importance of dialogue and reconciliation in attaining a lasting peace. While it won’t be simple, it will be worth the effort. 

It is neither trite, nor too late, to say, “Give peace a chance.”
